We solved the mystery of the best size fries to order at a fast food restaurant. Now, we are going to tackle the soda fountain. That's right Theorists, we are busting out the math to see which of your favorite fast food hang outs is tricking you into paying for a larger drink size while still only serving you the SAME amount of drink! Today we are putting McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger Kings, Wendy's and KFC into a head to head battle to see which place you should go to get the best bang for your buck in terms of drink size. Which place is feeling generous and which is a major scam? It's time to pour ourselves a large cup of TRUTH!

  • Is ice really cheaper than the pop?

  • From what I've heard, apparently, people in the South generally like to call it "pop". However, from my experience in the Deep South, we just called it soda or soft drink. That is if we even referred to the category as a whole. Oftentimes, I would just hear the actual name of the drink. Or servers would ask what drink you wanted. I might accept "soda pop", but I would just call soda or soft drink. (on a family member's account)

  • Idk about other Sonics, but the one my mom works at, you fill each cup with a little less than half the ice unless it’s tea, which you fill up completely (the tea is always fresh brewed so it’s really hot and melts the ice so you still have the same amount as fountain drinks) Idk what else to say except, DONT JUDGE ALL SONICS BASED ON WHAT I SAID! Ok have a nice day/night :)

  • I'm not sure.. i could be wrong or maybe it changed and was added full time but where i live we have what's called "dollar drink days" during the summer months where even if you don't get a meal a drink is a dollar across fountain drinks and some select McCafe drinks but as i said those days where drinks are only a dollar is only during the summer months probably starting June 1st then going through to the end of september or maybe just the end of August but I'm not sure. All the other months have drinks priced normally (price increase for larger size)

  • I order light ice and get a half cup of ice or they pretend or don't hear and just fill it with 90% ice with like 8% soda and 2% melted water that was once ice with 100% of my thirst not sufficiently quenched and have to resort to drink soda contaminated water when it eventually melts.

  • Ok I’ll explain some things that I learned from my time as a McDonald’s employee in the uk we are only supposed to put 4 cubes of ice in a large the ice cubes are all the same size because of our machine in the back medium 3 cubes and 2 for a small. Ok now there is also a line on the Cups to show where the liquid should be with and without ice the machine filled it to the line with normal ice amounts. Ok cool this is my problem with this normal employees need to be fast so they can’t alway put the exact amount so you will probably get less during. Thanks by
